Geann Gamboa
Geann, also known as Gem, is a Filipino artist and designer based in Whitby, Canada. Currently pursuing a degree in Illustration at OCAD University, Gem combines their academic journey with a flourishing entrepreneurial spirit. They are the creative force behind Gemwrld, an online shop and illustration brand known for its cute, bright, and heartwarming designs.
In addition to their studies and business, Gem has made strides in building and nurturing artistic communities. They have successfully hosted several markets and events, including cupsleeve community gatherings that bring fans and artists together in unique and engaging ways.
Most recently, Gem has initiated the "Mako Art Market," a Toronto-based artist community dedicated to organizing events that support and showcase local talent. Through these ventures, Gem aims to fosters a sense of collaboration among artists, providing platforms for creative expression and connection.
Gem’s illustrations are characterized by their charming and relatable nature, capturing the essence of joy and simplicity in everyday moments. Their work resonates with a diverse audience, bringing smiles to all who encounter it.
